Isaiah Solomon Pearson, 24, has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for the second-degree murder of Colson in March 2022 in a bout of possible jealous rage, according to authorities.

Prosecutors say that on March 20, 2022, Pearson found Colson at an Abbott Drive home with Pearson's former girlfriend with whom he shares a child. The following day, he returned to the same address and shots were fired inside the residence.

Investigators determined that Pearson shot Colson five times in the main bedroom of the apartment and fled after the shooting. The latter was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Members of the Elkton Police Department were able to track Pearson's cellphone from Elkton to Richmond in Virginia, where they lost the signal before he was tracked down by deputies of the US Marshals' Service and Henrico County Police Department on March 29, 2022.

Pearson was extradited back to Maryland, where he was held without bond.

The Elkton resident was found guilty by a jury following a four-day trial this summer for the murder as well as:

  • Four counts of use of a firearm in commission of a crime of violence;
  • Two counts of assault;
  • Four counts of reckless endangerment;
  • Two counts of illegally carrying a handgun.

At his sentencing, officials say that prosecutors were able to ascertain a 75 year prison sentence, with all but 70 to serve, dating back to when he was originally charged in Maryland on April 5, 2022.
